The KCVG is focused on the development of scientific knowledge in the field of insurance medicine.

The KCVG believes it is important that students recognize the importance of work in relation to health within the framework of their medical study program. It also believes that students need to be aware of the most important features of our social security system and need to understand what an insurance physician does in cooperation with other professionals.

The KCVG wants to play a role in both the basic curriculum and the post-doctoral education for insurance physicians in training by contributing ideas for the structure and design of the education, and by incorporating the knowledge developed by the KCVG in the occupational physician and insurance physician study programs. The KCVG is involved in the organization of refresher courses and frequently contributes to the DICIM (Dutch International Congress on Insurance Medicine).

The KCVG encourages and stimulates the practical implementation of the knowledge developed.
